If you’ve been following along on my Instagram adventures over the past few months, you’ll probably know that I spent 2 unbelievable weeks working with the travel geniuses at Topdeck for their ‘Ultimate 49′ campaign! They invited me to come along on their famous ‘Eastern Wanderer’ tour to experience some of the many Bucket List experiences they offer around the world – and needless to say, it was 2 of the best weeks of my life!
Ever since then, i’ve been on a mission to convince all of my travel-loving friends to book their Topdeck adventure next summer. Honestly, it’s been easy to convince them, because I have a whole list of reasons. Here’s a little taster…
You’re never alone on a Topdeck tour
If you have never traveled alone before, this is the perfect way to start. It allows you to feel the rush of solo travel, while enjoying the comfort of traveling with others.
As I packed my bags the night before, I felt a wave of nerves wash over me at the thought of joining a big group of travellers I had never met before. I was traveling alone – what if I couldn’t make friends? It felt like I was 4 years old again, about to walk into school for the first time!
The moment I arrived, the entire group (who had been Topdeckers for 2 weeks already) welcomed me into their adventures and I instantly felt like we had been friends for years. Moral of the story is, you won’t be a solo traveller for long, so relax and get ready to meet some seriously kick ass people from around the world!
Which leads me onto my next point…
You will make friends from all over the globe
When was the last time you went on a 2 week trip and came home with 40+ new friends from around the world? I don’t usually stay in hostels when I travel with my boyfriend, so having the opportunity to meet SO MANY incredible people from every corner of the globe was a real game changer for me.
When you are travelling full time with your group, your friendships are intensified because you are doing everything together. That might sound a bit odd, but it was actually a really lovely experience. You get to know everyone so quickly and you build friendships that will last, despite the distance.
To sum it all up, happiness is best when shared!
You get to see a lot in a short period of time
If you’re a fast paced, always on the go kind of person, Topdeck is right up your alley. Their tours are jam packed full of spectacular (some might even say ‘life-changing’) experiences, that you can squeeze into your annual leave days/college holidays. You don’t have to quit your job to explore the sights and sounds of Europe, or the exotic tastes of Asia. You can catch all the best bits, and then head back to work to brag about it for the rest of the year.
Leave the organising to the professionals
There are 2 kinds of people in the world. The kind who spend more time planning than traveling, and the kind who wish they never had to open up a Lonely Planet book or research anything online. Either way, take a break and let someone else do the planning for once. You deserve it! These guys are the best of the best, they have done all of the work so that you don’t have to. Sit back, relax and watch the landscapes changes as you are driven from one country to the next, without a care in the world.
As well as saving yourself the hassle, you’ll also save a tonne of money!
We all know that travel can be expensive (if it wasn’t i’m pretty sure we would all be doing it, all year round!), but the money-saving ninjas at Topdeck have created itineraries that get you the most bang for your buck. From their ‘No Tipping Policy’ to getting the best deals on accommodation around the world, these guys have figured out how to pack in as much as possible, while taking as little as possible from your pocket.
Freedom with free time
If you were following along on my adventure with Topdeck, you’ll know that the schedule was filled with incredible activities and delicious food stops along the way, but you will still have tonnes of free time to truly discover and explore the places you’ve always dreamed of. Run wild in Berlin, Paris or Amsterdam, hit up the museums in New York or take a dip at the beach in Miami – it’s completely up to you! That was one of my favourite things about the tour, it was structured, but not overly so, which meant that I could still take time to ‘just do me’ (like hitting up the Streetart tour in Berlin when everyone else wanted to catch the history tour instead).
Have I managed to convince you to give it a try for yourself? I’ll be honest with you guys, going on a trip like this was always something I wanted to do, but I kept putting it off and I like I mentioned earlier, I was little concerned about doing it alone… But I can put my hand on my heart and tell you that it was one of my favourite travel experiences of all time and it was one that I will never forget. I think it’s something that everyone should try at least once in their life, and who knows – you might just become a #Topdecker addict!
*Huge thanks to Topdeck for inviting me along on their Eastern European tour!
